Ranking Methodology
How eligible MU Online servers are ordered, how ties are resolved, and where sponsored placements appear.
Last updated: 2026-08-17
The main PlayMU.NET ranking is organic. Payment does not change a server's position in that list. Every eligible server is evaluated with the same ordered criteria below.
Eligibility
A server appears in the public ranking only after moderation approval and while its status is not Draft. Pending, rejected and draft listings are excluded from the ranking and sitemap.
Organic ordering
- Accepted votes, highest first. A vote is counted only after the active voting safeguards accept it.
- Community rating, highest first. This is the average of visible member ratings; moderated or deleted ratings are excluded.
- Listing creation date, oldest first. This provides a stable tie-break when votes and rating are equal.
- Listing ID, lowest first. This is the final deterministic tie-break.
The order is recalculated from the stored vote and rating totals whenever the public ranking is requested.
Vote safeguards
Voting is subject to the platform's active CAPTCHA, request-rate, per-network daily limit and server cooldown settings. These controls reduce automated and repeated voting; attempts that fail the policy are not added to the public vote total.
Sponsored placements
Premium badges and paid advertising provide additional presentation or placement outside the organic order. Featured cards, opening promotions and banner inventory are displayed separately and identified with labels such as AD, Promoted or Premium. A sponsored server keeps the same organic position determined by the criteria above.
Moderation and corrections
Listings, ratings or votes may be removed when they violate the Community Rules. Questions or evidence of manipulation can be sent to [email protected].
